DR. BIANCA LAURIA-HORNER, MD, CFPC
Dr. Lauria-Horner obtained her medical degree from the “Université de Montréal” Montreal Quebec. She held a private practice in Lower Sackville Nova Scotia for 13 years, and subsequently joined the Department of Psychiatry, Dalhousie University, Halifax, Nova Scotia in 1999 where she currently holds an academic position as associate professor.

By the year 2030 the World Health Organization predicts depression will be the most common and disabling illness throughout the world, with early onset occurring primarily in adolescence and early adulthood. Mental health directly influences children’s ability to participate in and benefit from education. Unresolved mental health problems lead to learning problems, decreased academic performance, and more truancy, dropout, and special education referrals.
